Sabine Muscat is a freelance communications consultant and journalist. She advises MERICS on its international communications strategy and edits English-language publications, and she edits the MERICS blog "European Voices on China." In Washington, DC, she reported for the German television news channel N24 and the business magazine Capital, among others. From 2008 to 2012, she was the Washington Correspondent for Financial Times Deutschland after working as the paper’s Asia Desk Editor from 2003 to 2007. She continues to contribute to the Wall Street Journal, China Dialogue, and other publications. Muscat started her career in journalism at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

The  Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS)is a Stiftung Mercatorinitiative. Established in 2013, MERICS is a Berlin-based institute for contemporary and practical research into China.
