Zhu Yapeng is an expert on policymaking in China and the country’s evolving social security system. In his recent research projects, Zhu focuses on China’s policy process in the fields of deregulation and social housing. He is Associate Director of the Center for Chinese Public Administration Research, and Professor at the School of Government, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou, China. Furthermore, he is the editor of the Journal of Public Administration, a journal publishing original research articles. His main publications include: Studying Public Policy: Theory and Application (Beijing: China Compilation and Translation Press, 2013) and Social Policy and Change in East Asia (co-edited with James Lee and James Midgley; Lextington Books, 2014).


The  Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS)is a Stiftung Mercatorinitiative. Established in 2013, MERICS is a Berlin-based institute for contemporary and practical research into China.
