The MERICS team is comprised of research associates, senior policy fellows and international fellows, grouped into five central research programmes. Each research group focuses on different aspects of modern China with the aim of forming a detailed picture of the country’s political, economic, social, ecological and technological development. The five programmes pursue an multidisciplinary approach, analysing current events and future trends.
The effects of China’s development on Germany and Europe are of key concern in every analysis. In short, MERICS outlines the opportunities and risks that China presents to us. MERICS looks specifically at requests from politics, economy, society and the media, recommending its own actions and strategies to actively help shape relations with China.
