The MERICS team of research associates, senior policy fellows and international fellows is grouped into five central research programs. Each research group focuses on different aspects of modern China with the aim of forming a detailed picture of the country’s political, economic, social, ecological and technological development. The five programs pursue a multidisciplinary approach, analyzing current events and future trends.
The effects of China’s development on Germany and Europe are of key concern in every analysis. In short, MERICS outlines the opportunities and risks that China presents to us. MERICS sets its own research priorities but also responds to requests for analysis from political decision makers, the business community, society and media. MERICS’ recommendations are meant to help shape relations with China.
