Fellowship Program

The MERICS Fellowship Program supports outstanding international scholars and experts on China and brings them together in the dynamic city of Berlin. In cooperation with our research teams, MERICS enables high-class, policy oriented and innovative research on China. As a MERICS Fellow, you will contribute your expertise and experience to the independent research of one of the world’s largest think tanks on contemporary China.

MERICS offers you:

  • Short-term fellowships (between two and three months): stipend of up to 2,700 EUR per month
  • Long-term fellowships (between four and twelve months): stipend of up to of 2,500 EUR per month
  • Additional financial support: travel expenses, newcomers allowance after arrival in Germany
  • Individual full-service support before and during the entire stay in Germany, support in bureaucratic matters
  • Close integration into a professional research team
  • An outstanding research location and a high-class global research network
  • A fully equipped office space
